All highways in the Estevan area remain closed as of 10 a.m. Saturday due to ice, and snow is now coming down accompanied by wind gusting to 54 kph.

The City of Estevan is laying sand on major streets, but areas remain slick.

"We are asking everyone to use caution when travelling on streets and highways," said City Emergency Measures Operations Coordinator Helen Fornwald.

A collision that seemed to involve a couple semis took place on the Estevan bypass this morning.

Estevan Fire Rescue Service Chief Dale Feser said they have not had any calls yet this morning.

Highway 39 is closed in both directions, from Midale through Estevan to North Portal. The bypass is also closed. Highway 18 is closed from the junction with Highway 35 east through the city to Oxbow. Highway 47 is closed from Estevan north through Stoughton, and south down to the US border.
