The Canadian Wheat Board has increased its premiums for No. 1 red spring wheat under its new wheat storage program.

Premiums of twelve dollars a tonne will be paid for wheat with protein levels of between 14.5 and 14.9 per cent.

A seventeen-dollar a tonne premium is being paid for wheat with protein of fifteen per cent or higher.

To compensate for a lack of bin space due to the program, farmers will receive an early delivery opportunity for the 2007-2008 crop, in addition to regular delivery calls.

The program deadline is July 31st.
