The Souris Valley Museum had a lot going on this October, as the month held a good few different events centered around Halloween.

That included a few different smaller events over the month, as well as a big one on the 30th which saw over 300 people attend.

The director curator of the museum Mark Veneziano says they had a lot of interest from the community.

"Our October was quite busy with our Halloween theme. we actually kicked off our Halloween season with 'I am a monster' for the little kids midway through October and continued on with that theme all the way through October ending with our spooky museum that happened here on October 30th," said Veneziano "That was a huge success and a huge event that we were happy to put on for the community."

Those events were enjoyed by a ton of people, according to Veneziano.

"We had over 320 people come out to our event here on Saturday, and everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves," said Veneziano "Our partners that were in attendance also really enjoyed having the day and enjoyed interacting with the community."

The day had plenty of support not just from individual community members, but also from many organizations in Estevan.

"I do want to thank our partners who came out," said Veneziano "We had the Estevan humane society, we had Estevan Area Literacy Group, we had the Estevan Family Resource Center, we had Southeast Newcomers Services, as well as Sweets Kendama Foundation, and the library also provided people with picnic kits."

While the museum might not be as busy, they're still providing a few services over the next couple of months.

"We are going strong, just because Halloween and October are over doesn't mean we don't have other things planned. For the month of November, we have quite a few no school days coming up," said Veneziano "The museum provides no school day workshops for children in the community who are off from school and parents are looking for something to do."

Veneziano says they'll cap off the year with a few Christmas celebrations.
