As winter approaches it's a good idea to take some time to review your farm or ranch operations.

Taking time to look at what worked for you over the last year and what didn't is always key.

It's also a good time to look at your future plans personally and for the business making sure your wills, estate plan, and/or succession plans are up to date.

Saskatchewan's Ministry of Agriculture is holding a couple of one-day Back to Business 2023 seminars next week, one in Moose Jaw on December 7th and one in Saskatoon on December 8th.

The event will focus on financial literacy, business risk and management strategies, and discussions with agriculture law and accounting professionals.

At each location, there will also be a panel of fellow livestock producers discussing what business risk management strategies have worked well for their operations

Livestock and Feed Extension Specialist Megan Roger says its a good idea to look at bringing in financial advisors, accountants, or lawyers as you map out the goals you have for your operation.

"It's always good to get an outside perspective that you know works with a lot of agriculture clients themselves. Can see what has worked well for other operations have seen that firsthand. and can provide some outside advice and still be able to relate to agriculture and know what your operations about as well."
