Travel within the city of Estevan is not recommended as the snow continues to fall across the region.

The heavy snowfall has already closed Wellock Road between Cemetary Road and Sister Roddy Road. There are barricades up blocking that stretch.

The 900th block of 3rd Street is also now closed.

The city also said they've been in touch with the Ministry of Highways and travel within the city is not recommended. Travel is also not recommended on certain highways across the southeast, with some highway stretches already closing near the Manitoba border.

Meanwhile, snow plows in Estevan have been out all day trying to clear the major and residential streets.

"Right now we're just trying to open the streets," said roads and drainage manager Norm Mack. "We'll see how much more we can do and we'll go from there."

"It's accumulating fast as we speak. So if it continues to do this the rest of the day and tomorrow, we're going to have a pile of snow. These efforts won't stop until the streets are passable anyhow."
