The Estevan Bruins wound up with a split this weekend at Affinity Place.

The Bruins beat the Nipawin Hawks 4-1 Saturday night after losing to Melfort 5-4 on Friday night.

Bruins goaltender Cam Hrdlicka was solid in net against the Hawks, making 25 saves and picking up his first win of the season.

Kade Runke scored twice in the third period, including an empty netter, while Oliver Pouliot and Caelan Fitzpatrick also found the net for Estevan.

Another suspension could be coming Estevan's way after Brandon Ambrozik was given a major penalty and a game misconduct for a hit to the head on Hawks forward Dawson Brace. Brace had to be helped off and did not return to the game.

The Bruins are already without defenceman Nolan Jones, who was suspended earlier this month and won't return until November.

With the win the Bruins improve to 5-3 on the season while the Hawks fall to 5-5.

The Bruins host the Flin Flon Bombers Wednesday night at Affinity Place.
