Thirty degree temperatures in early September didn't stop the Estevan Bruins and Weyburn Red Wings from playing hockey Saturday night at Affinity Place.

The Bruins kicked off their pre-season schedule with a 2-1 shootout loss to the Wings. Estevan tied the game at 1-1 in the third period and killed off a penally in overtime before ultimately falling in the shootout.

Weyburn's Aleko Sdrakas and Estevan's Wyatt Sorken were the goal scorers in regulation. Jackson Hassman scored the shootout winner.

Returning goaltender Cam Hrdlicka was strong in the Bruins net, making 36 saves.

The Bruins and Wings will play again on Monday night at Crescent Point Place in Weyburn.
