The Estevan Bruins lost 3-2 to the Weyburn Red Wings on Tuesday night at Affinity Place.

It was the first SJHL game in Estevan in several months after the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out most of the 2020-2021 season.

The Red Wings took the lead early in the third period as Jakob Kalin scored on the powerplay to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. Braden Birnie would add another tally a couple minutes later for Weyburn. Mark Rumsey scored late for the Bruins but it wasn't enough.

Estevan's Caelan Fitzpatrick and Weyburn's Elvis Slack also found the net earlier in the game.

Goaltender Cameron Beson was outstanding in the Red Wing net, making 45 saves in the win. The Bruins went 0 for 9 on the powerplay.

The Bruins continue their pre-season schedule this Saturday in Yorkton against the Terriers.

The first radio broadcast comes your way on Sunday Sept. 19, when the Bruins play their final pre-season game in Weyburn. You can listen live on Rock 106 starting at 3 p.m.
