A slow start to the 2022-2023 SJHL season for the Estevan Bruins got much worse on Friday night in Weyburn.

The Bruins were blown out 9-2 in a game that resembled some of the lopsided games from last year between the two teams, only this time the score was reversed.

Bruins goaltender Jackson Miller struggled in place of injured starter Cam Hrdlicka. Miller was shelled for eight goals before he was pulled midway through the third period.

The Bruins trailed 4-0 after just 20 minutes.

Kirk Mullen had a hat trick for the Red Wings.

These two rivals will play again next Friday night in Estevan, following the neutral site SJHL showcase event in Warman, Sask.
