The Estevan Bruins defeated the Yorkton Terriers 2-1 on Friday night to kick off their 2021-2022 regular season.

Caelan Fitzpatrick scored on the powerplay early in the third period in what would turn out to be the game winning goal.

"Trying to get in the goalies' eyes and I did and luckily I got a stick on it and it found the back of the net," Fitpatrick said after the game.

Antoine St. Onge opened the scoring for the Bruins in the first period. Yorkton's Karsten Kruska scored for the visitors late in the third period to make it interesting, but that's as close as the Terriers would get.

Goaltender Boston Bilious made his much anticipated debut in a Bruins uniform, making 25 saves in the win. Jacob Herman made 35 saves for the Terriers in the loss.

The Bruins outshot the Teririers 37-26 overall.

The two teams go at it again Saturday night in Yorkton.
