A 5-point night from Olivier Pouliot has the Estevan Bruins out in front of the Yorkton Terriers in their second round playoff series.

Pouliot scored twice and added three assists as the Bruins won 7-4 to take a 1-0 series lead. The Quebec native leads the playoffs with 15 points in just 6 games.

Jamie Valentino also scored twice. The Thompson, Man. native was centreing a line with Pouliot and Mark Rumsey, who also scored on the night.

The Bruins outshot the Terriers 36-22.

Both teams ran into penalty trouble. The Bruins had to kill off two 5-on-3's. Each team had six powerplay opportunities. The Bruins scored twice with the man advantage, while Yorkton scored once. 

Game 2 goes Saturday night at Affinity Place at 7 p.m.

In the other semi-final series, Flin Flon beat Humboldt 3-1 in Game 1 to take a 1-0 series lead.
