It wasn't exactly a relaxing long weekend for the Carlyle RCMP. While they did not have to deal with too many instances of speeding or impaired driving, they did have a pair of serious calls, both of which took them out to White Bear First Nation.

Two fires on the First Nation were the subject of those calls, though luckily in both cases no one was hurt during the fire. The cause of both fires is still under investigation.

"We did have a residential fire at White Bear First Nation," said Sergeant Tasha Reid. "We responded to that and the Carlyle Fire Department was there as well. We also had a vehicle fire on Monday that was discovered."

As for the house fire, according to Reid, the house was completely destroyed. The vehicle fire was similarly destructive, with the car being a total write-off.

"It (the car fire) was located at White Bear First Nation on the grid road," Reid said. "It was a Dodge truck."

Reid added their detachment had no problems with impaired drivers or speeders, but traffic services had a checkpoint set up in the Kenosee area.
