United Way Estevan is hoping to get some more excitement going through the community as we get closer to their United Way Telethon this fall.
That's planned to take place October 13 and 14, with the week of October 8 to 15 proclaimed for the organization.
They're looking to raise funds for a variety of community projects and causes during that telethon.
United Way Estevan Current President Michelle Beaulieu and Former President Robert Godfrey presented to the council just how much they hoped to raise this year.
“We’re very excited to be gearing up for this year's edition of the telethon. It is a very busy time for our board," said Godfrey, "But it's a very exciting time. $343,064 we are planning to raise for our Member agencies and Community impact partners and so we wanted to come to Council this year to ask that we have a proclamation to recognize United Way Estevan Week leading up to our annual telethon. "
They've still got plenty of work to go before the telethon, with the organization asking for anyone who wants to help to reach out.
"We're really looking forward to it. Another thing that we do want to mention is as we plan, we want to welcome the Community to take part in this year's telethon," said Godfrey, "Whether that be through volunteering, performing, or donating. We'd love to have you a part of this year's telethon. If you have any questions or you'd like to sign up for anything, you can contact our executive director Heidi Hesselink, you can call the United Way Estevan office at 634-7375.”
After that, the proclamation then passed the council with all members in agreeance, with Mayor Roy Ludwig reading off the proclamation.
