The City of Estevan's winter roads crews are ready to wage war with a Colorado Low that is upon the southeast.

The City said in a Tuesday-night release that the roads crews have emergency plans in place, in case they're needed.

"The Roads and Drainage Department will monitor the weather and snowfall accumulation throughout the next 24-72 hours in order to manage the needs of the city."

The City is advising the public to stay safe and avoid any unnecessary travel.

Meanwhile, travel was listed as not recommended on the province's Highway Hotline before 4 a.m. for highways in the Estevan area, and conditions are expected to worsen as the storm possibly brings 40 centimetres of snow with freezing rain and strong winds.
