Groups and organizations will be in Estevan looking for some attention as city-wide registration will be at the leisure center tonight.

They will be on-site to answer questions and individuals will be able to sign up for the different groups or will be directed to the best way to sign up.

Tanya Gervais, treasurer for minor softball said that the turnout for the sport was on the upswing last year as they rebounded from COVID.

She added that they had around 200 kids sign up, and is hoping to get the same number, or higher this year.

Gervais said that they typically suggest people use the registration website, to sign up, and then e-transfer the payment. The groups will be able to answer questions about the league at the registration event.

La Crosse, Soccer, Skating, and Basketballers, are among the other groups taking part in city-wide registration.

In addition to sports, there will be other groups, such as the Souris Valley Theatre, Toastmasters, and the Estevan Literacy Group.

Erin McQuoid, vice president of education for the Estevan Toastmasters, she said that Toastmasters is a club for individuals 16 and older.

She said that the club is beneficial for anyone who wants to work on their public speaking skills and a great way to practice skills that you need for work and business.

“Table topics would be a fun way to answer impromptu questions that are related to the theme of the evening, "said McQuoid.

The group is also planning on putting together a fall youth leadership program.

She said the door is always open for new members. They meet at the Tech Hub at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.

City-wide registration will be held from 5:30-8:30. You can find the full list of groups that will be at city-wide registration here.
