During Thursday night’s Physician’s Town Hall with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, a new tool for enforcing the public health orders put into place to curb the spread of COVID-19 was unveiled.

In the coming weeks, a COVID Enforcement Team (CET) will be put together. This group will be made up of mostly retired police officers who will have special constable status.

The group will help with the enforcement of the public health measures, in particular proof of vaccination non-compliance at businesses that are not typically regulated by public health inspectors. They will also enforce the masking public health measures.

The province has also brought back their non-compliance reporting form and their non-compliance hotline.

The town hall heard the CET will likely be out in the field in 1-2 weeks.
