A season that will be remembered for a long time by fans of the Estevan Bruins came to an end Wednesday night as the Bruins fell 4-0 to the star-studded Brooks Bandits at the 2022 Centennial Cup.

The host Bruins finished with a 1-3 round robin record, which wasn’t good enough to advance to the quarter finals.

The Bruins suffered opening weekend losses to Longueuil and Pickering before rebounding to beat Red Lake.

Wednesday was the final Junior A game for graduating 20 and 21-year-olds Eric Houk, Eric Pearce, Mark Rumsey, Olivier Pouliot, Mikol Sartor, Dayton Deics, Nolan Jones, and goaltender Boston Bilous.

Bilous and fellow netminder Cam Hrdlicka both saw action in Wednesday’s loss.

Other games

In other action, Summerside beat Ottawa 4-3 in overtime, while Dauphin took down the Soo Thunderbirds 6-1.

Still to come

The quarterfinal matchups are set. Flin Flon will tangle with Pickering on Friday at 4 p.m. Then it’s Longueuil against Summerside at 7:30 p.m.

Dauphin and Brooks are already through to the semi finals on Saturday, both having received a bye for finishing first in their respective pools.

Thursday is an off day for the tournament before the playoffs begin on Friday.
