The Estevan Police Service executed search warrants in a vehicle and a home in the central part of town Monday, resulting in the arrest of 49-year-old Estevan resident Darren Bakken.

The drug trafficking investigation, conducted by the EPS' Drug Intelligence Unit and Criminal Investigation Unit, led to police seizing methamphetamine, hydromorphone, fentanyl, and cocaine.

Bakken has been charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of Trafficking, Sec. 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • Trafficking a Schedule I substance to wit Methamphetamine, Sec. 5(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Sec. 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • Operation of a conveyance while prohibited, Sec. 320.18 Criminal Code;
  • Failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance, Sec. 811 Criminal Code

The investigation is ongoing.
