The Estevan Chamber of Commerce is looking to recognize businesses around the area as it hosts the EBEX awards this October.
Those awards include multiple categories, which highlight both businesses and individuals who have put in extraordinary work.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jackie Wall says they've got a good event ahead of them.
"Since I've been at the Chamber, this has been the biggest year for nominees, so we are very, very pleased with the amount of nominees that came in the quality of course, of the nominees and we are very excited to celebrate business success on October the 20th and also to provide businesses the inspiration to see what other businesses and companies are doing in their community."
After opening nominations earlier this year, they took those in from the surrounding community. After talking with those businesses to have them accept the nomination, they then filled out a short nomination package for more details.
The awards will then be decided on by an MNP branch outside of Estevan, which will judge impartially with no prior knowledge of the businesses.
Those decisions will be made for multiple categories, some of which will be new.
"We have multiple different categories, so we have outstanding service. We have community involvement, growth and expansion, young entrepreneur of the year, new business venture, outstanding employee diversity in the workplace, social Impact award, which is a new one this year, and then we also have the Nick and Verna Morsky Business Hall of Fame and we have the business of the year."
Wall says she's excited to have people come together and get a chance to mingle at the awards.
"We are going to have a gala cocktail reception featuring an appetizer bar, a wine bar, a cocktail bar, and a dessert bar. It is at the Southeast College in the atrium where the awards will take place, but the cocktails and all of the appetizers and dessert bars will happen in their atrium or their atrium area."
"Then in the auditorium lecture theatre is where the awards are going to take place and then after the awards, people are invited to stay and celebrate back in the atrium for some more cocktails and appetizers and desserts."
