The ECS Elecs will look to get back in the win column later this week after a tough loss to open up their season.

The Elecs were shut out 43-0 by Weyburn Friday night in Estevan.

Despite the loss, head coach Mark Schott was pleased with the effort from his defense.

"Our defense, despite what the score may imply, actually played quite well," he said. "We got lots of pressure in the backfield, some sacks, some knocked down passes. But offensively we really struggled and then that led to our defense being on the field for a large portion of the game."

Schott said he has a young team this year with the majority of his players in Grades 9 and 10.

"Our mentality for this season is we just want to get better every time we step on the field, from practice to practice and game to game," Schott said. "So they're going to get lots of game experience this year and hopefully continue to learn from the vide variety of experiences that they'll encounter and be better off for it down the road."

The Elecs will play their next game this coming Friday in Yorkton.

"Yorkton will be a tough game for us," Schott said. "Yorkton's generally one of the top programs in the province."

Yorkton lost 10-9 to Weyburn in their first game.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday.
