Estevan Combat Sports took their talents to Moose Jaw over the weekend for the provincial Jiu-Jitsu competition.

The group took nine competitors from ages seven to fifteen and even one adult student.

Overall the team came home with 12 medals, five gold, five silver and a pair of bronze.

Tyson King, an instructor with the group said that each competitor gets to enter into two divisions, one wearing their traditional uniforms and another in more western style.

For a few of the students competing it was their first time in a competition, King said it's important to make sure they are in the right midset heading into it.

"It's always different, competition is just so much different than anything you can create in the gym. Obviously expectations were tempered going in, they knew that we had that talk and it was all just about what they want to work on next or what they want to learn.

Jiu-Jitsu will start back up for school children in the spring.
