The Days Inn Estevan is the recipient of a national award, recognizing the hotel for its quality of service.

That Chairman's award is given out by Days Inn Canada, recognizing the hotels in the country that have been performing admirably.

Estevan's hotel was one of a few different locations that were commended for their service over the year.

General Manager Jeff Pierson says one of the keys to winning that award was their staff.

"First and foremost, our amazing staff here. We wouldn't be anywhere without them and they're the ones that keep a level of service and cleanliness that helped us achieve that award."

After 2 years of the COVID pandemic, hospitality industries took a major blow, making this award all the sweeter for Pierson.

"I think it makes it that much better. After a rather rough 2 years of battling COVID, it puts it all into a better perspective," said Pierson, "It's the most prestigious award you can get from Days Inn Canada and we're just thrilled to be the recipient of it."

Now they're gearing up for events coming to Estevan, which include a pair of major hockey tournaments.

"We got a busy time ahead," said Pierson, "Estevan Strippers hockey tournament is back on this year, which is a huge boost to the community. Then we'll recover from that and get ready to host the centennial cup that we're all super excited about."
