Estevan Fire Rescue responded to a number of alerts over the week, with a few tree problems thanks to the gusty winds.

On June 3, at around 6:30 p.m., EFR was dispatched to a residential fire alarm in the south end of the city. Crews responded and determined the alarm was due to a cooking-related issue with assistance not required.

June 4 saw a crew dispatched at 4:50 p.m. to a commercial fire alarm in the North end of the city. Crews responded and determined the alarm was due to alarm system maintenance being performed. Once again assistance was not required.

The next day on June 5, at around 11:20 AM, a crew was dispatched to a tree on a powerline and on fire west of the city, with additional reports of a possible grass fire. Crews responded and investigated, confirming a tree was down on a powerline with no fire occurring. SaskPower responded to the scene and dealt with the issue. The reported grass fire was investigated and determined to be blowing dust with no fire as well.

Later that day around a crew went out around 2:20 p.m. to another a tree on a powerline in the North end of the city. Crews responded and confirmed no fire, with the area being blocked until SaskPower could arrive to perform repairs.

A crew was dispatched later in the week on June 9 at around 6:20 p.m. to a commercial fire alarm in the central part of the city. Crews responded and determined the alarm was cooking-related. Crews assisted with resetting the fire alarm system.

Crews were also out with some PR events for the week. That included participating in the radiothon, performing a spray down at Pleasantdale School on Friday, and attending races Friday night.
