Fire Chief Rick Davies sent out an update on some of the latest calls and situations Estevan Fire Rescue took part in over the week.

On February 27, 2024, a crew was dispatched at 6:15 PM to a possible structure fire in the northeast area of the city. Crews responded to the scene and found no fire occurring at the time of arrival but smoke was visible in the building.

Crews ventilated the structure and investigated the cause, determining that a heater in the building had malfunctioned, causing smoke and a burning smell.

On February 29, a two-vehicle collision Northwest of the city on Highway 39 had a crew dispatched just before 4:00 PM. Crews responded and confirmed no entrapment, with one person transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Crews assisted on the scene until the incident was cleaned up.

Sunday, March 3 saw a crew dispatched at 10:20 AM to a residential fire alarm in the south end of the city. Crews responded and quickly determined it to be a cooking-related incident. Assistance was not required.

Later that day a crew was dispatched at 4:45 PM to a two-vehicle collision East of the city on Highway 39. Crews responded and confirmed no entrapment, with one person with minor injuries. Crews assisted on the scene until the incident was cleaned up.

As well, 15 members participated in a two-day ice/water rescue course over the weekend.
