The Estevan Public Youth Centre (EPYC) is gearing up for a sizzling start to the summer with a steak night fundraiser, as announced by Merissa Scarlett the executive director of EPYC. The event, set for next Monday (June 24) at The Flats Eatery + Drink, aims to support the centre’s burgeoning programs, following a significant increase in youth attendance.

In May alone, EPYC welcomed over 200 young attendees, including 30 newcomers. “The trend is continuing into June, and I expect summer will be even busier,” said Scarlett in a recent interview on SUN 102’s morning show.

The fundraiser, priced at $35 per ticket, offers a choice of steak or chicken, two sides, and a beverage, running from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. “We’re going to have a 50/50 as well. So come on out, help us raise a bit of money to kick off into the summer,” Scarlett encouraged.

EPYC serves as a vital social hub where friendships form and mentorship flourishes. “It’s definitely a place that they socialize… I’m seeing a lot of mentorship from some older grades with our younger attendees as well,” Scarlett shared, highlighting the centre’s role in shaping the future of Estevan’s youth.

Tickets for the steak night fundraiser can be purchased through EPYC’s Facebook page, which Scarlett recommends for the latest updates. The centre also welcomes adult volunteers to contribute to the community and engage with the youth.
