Yesterday had the Estevan Board of police commissioners met to discuss the latest happenings in the city regarding policing.

From the crime statistics given out at the meeting, most crimes this year to the date are lower than last year's, with 40% fewer drug & substance act arrests.

Crimes against persons were down by 23% and crimes against property are down 19%.

However criminal traffic code violations are up by 16% and cannabis act violations are up by three hundred percent, though that's due to 3 cases this year compared to none last year.

Total calls for service were up by 0.8 percent.

The meeting also produced a comparison of the year-to-date of 2021 with the five-year average, where the majority of infractions had dropped.
