Temperatures soared throughout much of Saskatchewan yesterday, with records being set in a number of communities.

Moose Jaw set a new record with a high of 35.9° yesterday, while a new record was reached in Regina with a temperature of 33.3°. A number of other communities came close to a new record, including Estevan and Weyburn.

The western part of the province is expected to see temperatures start to cool down first, with rain also in the forecast for many areas. The west-central region and the southwest will likely see rain today with the risk of a thunderstorm.

The southeast, however, remains under the heat warning with the temperatures expected to still be well above 30°.

Environment and Climate Change Canada, though, is saying there is a high chance of thunderstorms in a stretch of land that goes from the Minton area, near the U.S. border south of Regina, all the way up to just south of Yorkton, and all the way to the Manitoba border.

The temperatures are expected to cool off in the southern part of the province over the next few days before temperatures start to creep back up towards the 30° mark.
