“Honestly, it feels so amazing and surreal that people are voting for me to be on the nomination ballot and to be in the finals with the most amazing other Saskatchewan artists. It’s just an incredible feeling to know that people appreciate it.”

Those were the words of Karissa Hoffart when she was asked about her nomination for Female Artist of the Year for the upcoming SCMA Awards. This is the second consecutive year Hoffart has been nominated for the award, and she is already looking forward to the experience in Lloydminster in June.

“The SCMA experience is all about getting together all of the Saskatchewan country music artists and just being able to connect with one another, and able to help one another through the tough times and celebrate their wins that night,” Hoffart said. “These awards are super exciting for everyone, and being able to just celebrate the accomplishments that everyone has made throughout the year, I think it’s incredible.”

Hoffart isn’t the only person in her home nominated either. Her husband, Justin LaBrash, is once again up for Male Artist of the Year, along with three other awards. La Brash won the Male Artist of the Year award last year.

“I just want to wish everybody who’s been nominated good luck, and congratulations to every single person involved in the country music industry in Saskatchewan, because it’s just amazing that we can keep going and push through all the hard times and make our music,” Hoffart added.

The awards will be handed out in Lloydminster on June 22nd.
