Hail and flash flooding hit Estevan Tuesday afternoon during the first big thunderstorm of 2023.

The deluge caused the Estevan Police Service to block off part of Souris Avenue.

A monitoring station near the Estevan Airport recorded 11.2 millimetres of precipitation on Tuesday. Though the storm didn't appear to hit some of the nearby areas - such as Bienfait and Benson - nearly as hard.

More moisture appears to be on the way this week. Environment Canada says there's a 30-per-cent chance of showers Wednesday along with a risk of a storm. They say there's a 60-per-cent chance of showers Thursday through Friday.

Meanwhile, The Weather Network is forecasting about 10 millimetres of rain Thursday and 25 to 30 millimetres on Friday.
