Estevan police chief Rich Lowen says hockey fans should expect an increased police presence both at and around Affinity Place tonight as the Estevan Bruins and Flin Flon Bombers battle for SJHL supremacy.

Lowen said there have not been any major issues during the Bruins playoff run and he hopes that continues tonight.

"For the most part everybody's been just fantastic in town," Lowen said. "We had a few very minor issues and we were able to look after them well. I think everyone is there for the right reasons, and they want to cheer on the team."

Lowen said fans should also plan to get home safely, especially if they've been drinking alcohol.

"We want to encourage everyone to have a good time and be respectful and drink responsibly if you're drinking, and we want to remind everyone not to drink and drive," he said. "We will be out and we will be checking.

Lowen also took a friendly jab at Flin Flon Bombers fans.

"I encourage everyone to be kind to our visitors. And make sure that we are respectful, because they're going to be awful sad when we win, so we have to make sure we look after them."
