UPDATE:

A Tuesday-morning delay at the CP rail crossing on 13th Avenue in Estevan was due to a crossing malfunction.

CP Spokesperson Salem Woodrow said the company regrets the inconvenience the issue may have caused.

"Signals at railway crossings are designed to activate when there is any issue with the track circuitry or wiring required for activation," said Woodrow. "This is a key safety feature of such active warning systems."

You can report crossing malfunctions to CP Police at 1-800-716-9132 with the unique five or six-digit crossing ID located on the crossing infrastructure.

Whether it was because of fog for people coming from out of town, or due to a long delay at a rail crossing, quite a few Estevan employees might be late for work Tuesday morning.

The CP rail crossing on 13th Avenue was closed for an extended duration Tuesday morning, opening just before 8 a.m.

Reports said the crossing was closed for at least 20 minutes.

Workers with CP were working at the scene. It's unclear whether any further disruptions are expected. DiscoverEstevan has reached out to CP, but did not hear back immediately.
