A 41-year-old man from Manitoba is dead after police say he was struck by a vehicle on the Trans Canada Highway west of Sintaluta Thursday evening.

The Indian Head RCMP closed a part of the highway to investigate reports of a person found deceased in the eastbound passing lane Friday morning. The investigation, which led to the eastbound lanes of the highway being closed until Friday afternoon, determined the man had been hit by a vehicle sometime Thursday evening.

While the man’s identity is known, police are in the process of locating his family to notify them.

The man was wearing dark clothes, a red hoodie and a blue backpack. Anyone who may have seen him, before or after the accident, between 8:00 p.m. Thursday night and 6:00 a.m. Friday morning is asked to contact the Indian Head RCMP detachment.
