Folks spending their May long weekend at a provincial park will be able to consume alcohol and cannabis at their campsites for the first time in almost two decades.
The Saskatchewan government announced yesterday that they are lifting the ban that took effect back in 2006.
Phil Pearson, executive director of Park Operations, said this means that the substances are officially permitted year-round.
"The same rules and regulations around quiet hours, excessive noise, and respectful behaviour, all continue to be in place," he added. "We'll work with our Park Enforcement, which is fully operational this May long weekend, in monitoring some of the impacts of removing the ban and being present in the parks over the May long weekend as they are throughout the year."
Pearson said that he thinks anyone who comes out to the parks for a warm weekend will have fun and enjoy the parks responsibly.
