Premier Scott Moe is facing criticism at home after news was released that he issued a pardon for his brother for a traffic offence.

The pardon, one of roughly 30 issued last month as an order-in-council, was signed by Moe, and one of those receiving clemency for a traffic offence was his brother Kris.

According to the Canadian Press, the Premier’s office stated the pardons for traffic offences come as recommendations from law enforcement and justice officials, and that Moe did not take part in the discussions in cabinet.

Moe’s brother Kris was convicted of driving through an amber light in January of 2021 in Prince Albert.
