The northern lights have been visible across Canada in recent days, including in southern Saskatchewan.

Estevan resident Heliana Souza-Wagner was out watching last night and described what she saw.

"Lots of purples and pinks, and obviously the green which is the main colour, but there was a lot of pink and purple which means that the aurora is really intense and strong," she said.

Souza-Wagner said she was only out until about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday but that she heard from other onlookers that the colours became even more remarkable into the early hours of the morning. She said she expects the lights to be visible again tonight and encourages everyone to see for themselves.

"It doesn't cost you anything, they're out there, and we're so blessed that we're in this area that we get to see them. Why not? Go outside, take your family, take your friends. It's something incredible to see," she said.
