There was a healthy dose of news both good and bad from the province of Saskatchewan today in regards to COVID-19. On the one hand, recoveries outnumbered new cases for the first time this week, and new cases were kept to single-digit totals. On the other hand, another person has died from the virus.

The death from the virus was the 17th in Saskatchewan since the virus first arrived here. This time it was a resident in the south region who was in the age range of 70-79. The province did not release any further details.

As for the new cases, the nine cases bring the provincial total to 1218. Three cases are in the south, two are in Saskatoon, two are in the north, and one each are in the central region and in Regina.

The latest 21 recoveries bring the total number of recoveries in Saskatchewan up to 907. Because recoveries outnumbered new cases, the number of active cases dropped back below the 300 mark, down to 294.

There are 13 people in hospital due to the virus, one fewer than yesterday. Eight of those 13 are receiving inpatient care, with three in Saskatoon, two in the central, two in the south, and one in Regina. The remaining five cases require intensive care and are spread between Saskatoon (3) and Regina (2).

Saskatchewan has performed 93,669 COVID‐19 tests so far, or 68,474 per million people. Yesterday they performed 873 COVID-19 tests. Testing is available to anyone who needs it, whether or not they are symptomatic, by calling 811.
