The Radiothon for Life in support of the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation was a rousing success again this year.

The Estevan community raised just shy of $97,000, which will go towards local healthcare at St. Joseph's Hospital, including important upgrades to emergency room equipment.

The exact money total as of Wednesday evening was $96,843, though that number could still go up when the final total is calculated on Thursday.

"Just want to thank everyone...our community support is unreal," said Lori Gervais, the executive director of the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation. "Whitecap (Resources) kicking us off the way that they did, all of our power hour sponsors that always step up for us, and of course Apex (Distribution) coming in with that donation, and all of the community that comes out of the woodwork every time for us."

Apex Distribution donated $20,000 near the end of the radiothon.

Gervais also commented on how many people came to donate in-person this year with sunny skies for most of the day, albeit in extreme heat.

"I feel like this was our second year kind of after COVID, and last year was exactly that...it was just nice to be together and be outside," she said. "And again (this year) we did. We had people coming from everywhere...driving up, walking up, riding up."

Gervais added that they'll likely hold the event outside again next year with the same hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
