You'll notice a fancy hotel on your way into town if you're driving down Kensington Avenue.

That would be Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Estevan, located at 120 King Street.

Although the outside of the building may catch your eye first due to the flashy Christmas decorations, there's been some recent upgrades inside, particularly with the main lobby, explains General Manager Nilesh Jejurkar.

"The bar and lounge is a new concept," Jejurkar said. "It's not just for the hotel guests, anybody from the community, or anybody walking down the street can join us at the bar."

The menu includes chicken wings, spring rolls, pizza, desserts, wine, and beer.

The hotel also features a pool, a waterslide, and a fitness centre.

"We cater to big groups, sports teams, any kind of groups," Jejurkar said.

Microtel also has a unique program called the Common Ground Program. The hotel collects small donations from guests and the money goes towards the community every year. This past year, Microtel was able to donate $2,500 to Envision Counselling and $2,500 to Estevan Air Cadets.

"Every year our team chooses the non-profit charity in our community, and that's how the money is donated," Jejurkar said.

The hotel is also offering gift certificates over the holiday season.

"We'd like to wish everybody - all our guests, our community - Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year."

The Estevan location was built in 2012, and Microtel also has a location in Weyburn, which was built in 2014.
