The ExploreSask Photo contest is making a return this summer.

The contest launched last week, and will once again provide a chance for photographers and videographers, whether amateur or professional, the chance to submit their photos and videos for a chance to win up to $1,000.

“There’s plenty of opportunity to get out there and submit entries for the contest,” explained Amy McInnis, the executive director of Marketing and Communication with Tourism Saskatchewan. “It doesn’t close until September 15th, so there’s lots of summer ahead of everyone.”

There are seven categories in that people can submit photos. Those are prairie, people and places, wildlife, winter, woods and water, and food and drink. There is also a video category. The videos can be edited or single-shot videos, no longer than 60 seconds.

“The contest itself has been really growing in popularity,” McInnis added. “Last year we had around 6800 entries; our next best year was 2020 and we had 3800 so we expect a really great year in terms of participation.”

The top photo in each category receives a $500 Visa gift card, and the top overall photo, chosen from the category winners, receives another $500 Visa gift card.

The top video submission receives a $1,000 Visa gift card, and won’t be eligible for the grand prize.

Entries can be submitted on the Tourism Saskatchewan website.
