The ethanol plant at Unity received a $5 million commitment from the Federal Government's Eco-Agriculture Biofuels Capital Initiative.
So far, the Unity Group has raised over $12 million in direct equity investments from 317 farmers.
The $38 million ethanol plant is expected to use approximately 68,000 tonnes of wheat per year, with 95% of that coming from area producers.
The plant is expected to produce approximately 25 million litres of biofuels annually, with production scheduled to begin in September 2008.
