Earlier this afternoon, Carlyle RCMP located a man who was suspected to have stolen a vehicle, committed assault, and been armed. He was found at a residence near Carlyle, SK. The male was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old Aaron Kenneth Olney has been charged with 11 offences resulting from a report of an assault on January 3 near Langenburg, SK:

  1. Assault with a weapon 
  2. Committing an assault while carrying a weapon
  3. Uttering threats to cause death 
  4. Possession of a firearm while prohibited
  5. Using a firearm while committing an indictable offence 
  6. Pointing a firearm
  7. Possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence
  8. Possession of a firearm knowing it was obtained by the commission of an offence 
  9. Possession of a firearm knowing it was obtained by the commission of an offence 
  10. Theft under $5000 
  11. Theft of a motor vehicle 

Aaron Kenneth Olney is scheduled to appear in court in Yorkton on Thursday, January 5.

The Saskatchewan RCMP says their investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
