For the third year in a row, money raised from selling smile cookies at the two local Tim Hortons will go toward Dennis Moore Centennial Park in Estevan.

There was a cheque presentation on Wednesday afternoon with Ryan and Mandy Irwin who own both Tim Hortons in town, along with Mayor Roy Ludwig and City Manager Jeff Ward.

The total amount on the cheque was $12,241. The money will go towards the play structure at the park.

"It's just a nice addition into Estevan," said Ryan Irwin. "It was definitely something that was needed in this area and it's utilized all the time."

Irwin added that the lasting impact it has on the people in town is important to him.

"It was just nice to leave a little bit of a legacy, put a name on it as well. I just want to thank Estevan again for a great year and our staff for the hard work they put in. Over 12 thousand cookies this year, every year's going to grow, so it's nice to see it go to a great place," Irwin said.

Mandy Irwin said it was a record setting year.

"This is our biggest smile cookie year to date in the last eight years so that's something that's pretty cool after a year of hard business in the community, so it's nice to see that people are still out there and giving back," she said.

Tim Hortons has committed to sponsoring the park for five years, and this is year three of five.

The campaign raised $8,365 last year.
