Mark Rumsey’s powerplay goal at 2:56 of the third period proved to be the game winner as the Estevan Bruins beat the Yorkton Terriers 4-3 Saturday night at Westland Insurance Arena to sweep the home and home series to start the season.

Rumsey finished with four points, including a shorthanded goal. Forwards Griffin Asham-Moroz and Brandon Ambrozik also scored for the Bruins.

Olivier Pouliot chipped in with a pair of assists.

Estevan ran into some penalty trouble late in the third period, and had to fend off a rare 6 on 3 scenario in the final seconds to secure the win.

Goaltender Boston Bilous made 23 saves in the victory.

"At the end of the day we're happy with the wins, but obviously there's lots of things to work on, just the little things that I think we'll get better on as the year goes," said assistant coach Phil Fyfe.

The Bruins will travel to Melville this Friday to take on the Millionaires.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00.
