While the Federal Government continues to encourage the provinces to consider harmonizing the G.S.T. and P.S.T., the Saskatchewan Government has taken a wait-and-see approach towards the change.

Souris Moose Mountain MP Ed Komarnicki says the option for the province to discuss the option with the Federal Government is always open, adding that there are both positives and negatives in combining the G.S.T. and P.S.T. into just one tax.

Provincial Finance Minister Rod Gantefoer has stated that the Government will look into harmonization, but doesn't think it would work for Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan is one of five provinces in Canada that does not harmonize the G.S.T. and P.S.T.
