In the new year, Doctor John Clarke will retire after being with Agriculture Canada for the past thirty years.

Doctor Clarke works at the Semi-Arid Prairie Agricultural Reseach Centre station in Swift Current as a durum breeder, and has been training Doctor Danny Singh as his replacement.

Doctor Singh says he hopes to provide farmers with the best possible durum breeds so they can enter the market with excellent quality durum.

He adds that as a durum breeder, he hopes to produce varieties that have higher yields, as well as tackle issues related to the grade of durum.
