The Southeast is honouring some of the women who go above and beyond in their businesses and communities as part of the Southeast Saskatchewan Women of Distinction Awards.

The Nomination Announcement Celebration was held last night, with many business people and community members from across the southeast.

Tania Andrist, chairwoman with the awards, says that the event was to congratulate the nominees and the people who nominated them.

"It was a terrific celebration of the nominees and their nominators. Of course, we are so pleased to celebrate our nominators, because those are the people that look around the community and say "this is the person that should be recognized." Without those nominators, making the effort to make those nominations, we wouldn't have the event."
