A car that was reported stolen in the Oxbow-Carnduff area was found abandoned on a business lot in Weyburn.

Weyburn Police were contacted when the vehicle had been sitting on the business lot for a while and didn’t belong to any of the employees.

“We checked it out and it turned out it was stolen over the RCMP area,” Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype said. “So that vehicle was seized and turned over to the RCMP for further investigation.”

The vehicle was not damaged.

“When a vehicle is stolen and it's not damaged, it just kind of is moved from one area to the other, especially in a winter month, it is quite possible that someone just needed to get to one location to the other and chose to do it in that fashion.”

VanDeSype added that it’s a good idea to contact the police if a vehicle stands out and doesn’t seem to belong where it is.
