Snow and wind are hitting the Estevan area, causing subpar conditions on highways.

The province's Highway Hotline lists highways in the Estevan area under the 'winter-conditions-exist' category as of 10:03 a.m., thanks to drifting snow.

Travel was not recommended northwest of Weyburn shortly before 10 a.m., but that status has since been improved to winter conditions.

As of 10 a.m., travel was still not recommended on Highway 33 near Regina.

Environment Canada is calling on wind gusts to hit 70 kph during the afternoon, with two to four centimetres of snow, possibly mixing with rain in the afternoon.

The wind is expected to die down Thursday night, with some light snow possibly kicking around overnight and into Friday.
