Cue the poorly lit, modestly decorated stage with the sub par sound system..it's time
for the  2010 CCMA's...

To be frank with you, the annual award show does not match up to the
production design of it's annual competition of the MTV Music Video Awards.
But do they know how to put on a show!!!
Give me a wack load of Terri Clark  and Johnny Reid preformances over
the weird, ackward, shock preformances from
your Lady Gaga's and Kanye West's any day!

The CCMA's were full of great moments...

The bulk of the 2010 Canadian Country Music Association awards in Edmonton

were handed out to the men of Canadian country, with the top nominees

Gord Bamford and Johnny Reid coming out of the CCMA weekend with

four trophies apiece. It was left to Victoria Banks, female artist of the year,

and rising star of the year One More Girl..

Paul Brandt wasn't even one of the nominees, but he almost stole the
show with his musical parody five minutes into the show.
Dr. Paul serenaded the various nominees
"This could be Gord Bamford's time to shine or maybe he'll sit for two
hours and ride the pine" -- and unveiled a red kilt, poking fun at
Scottish-Canadian crooner Johnny Reid in the process.

With stellar performances from young artist like High Valley,

One More Girl, winners of the Rising Star Award and Jaydee Bixby

it seems Canadian country music is in great hands for generations to come.

Some local celebrities also made appearances including Wayne Gretzky

via a video message, his old teammate Grant Fuhr and current Oiler Sam Gagner.

Olympians Kevin Martin, Shannon Szabados and Jamie Sale and David Pelletier

were also on hand.

Male Artist of the Year - Gord Bamford

If you missed last nights show and preformances fans will be able
to download  from Sunday's broadcast  including
Blue Rodeo's opener, "Never Look Back," and Terri Clark's version
of "You Tell Me" with Reid -- on iTunes later this week

It was a great show and I hope the 2011 CCMA's will be just as
delightful,(poor lighting, sound and all) come next year when they
go to Hamilton.
