Marnie Murphy is the owner and operator of Phoenix Furniture, a business in Estevan that takes old furniture and refurbishes them for a new life.

Murphy started the business after dealing with a jail sentence and addiction nearly six years ago, and is now better than ever working for her hobby.

That includes having her kids returned to custody and purchasing her own house in 2018.

Recent times have been more difficult thanks in part to the pandemic and Murphy is downsizing the operation, moving it to her house.

She's hoping that a win in a competition called DIY Hero, would have her taking home $25,000.

We talked with her about her business.
